Roche the newest partner of CleverHealth Network

As partners in the CleverHealth Network, Roche brings in their wide global network, strong capabilities and expertise in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and real-world data. Roche joined the CleverHealth Network also with learning in mind. Together the ecosystem aims to use health care data and the latest technologies to optimise and personalise patient care paths in Finland and abroad.

Matheus Vieira and Maturin Tchoumi, General Managers of the Roche Diagnostics and Pharmaceutical divisions in Finland are looking forward to being part of the HUS Helsinki University Hospital’s platform and to begin the journey to improve patient care pathways together with the other players in the network.

Roche and CleverHealth Network share the same vision

At Roche, diagnostic and pharmaceutical expertise are closely integrated to create innovative healthcare solutions and Roche’s aim is to optimise every step of the patient journey. Both Vieira and Tchoumi want to bring this mindset of integrated solutions along into the CleverHealth Network.

Vieira explains by means of three big elements how the Roche Diagnostics vision supports this joint goal: The first is focused on innovations in diagnostics, envisioning the future of patient care. The second element is related to shaping healthcare where Roche aims to use data in order to reach patients this way. In the third element Roche aims to transform the way patient care is delivered, using diagnostics to create more personalised options to treat the right patients at the right time.

According to Tchoumi, Roche´s vision is to build a system that is sustainable, enables patient access to innovations, and uses insights to improve the quality of care and partnerships like the one with CleverHealth Network are critical to drive this ambition forward. Roche is shifting their thinking from targeted healthcare solutions to co-creating something for the good of the whole society.

Mirka Tammi, Ecosystem Project Director at HUS, is pleased to see how the ecosystem involves companies operating in various industries:

  • "In addition to the pharmaceutical expertise, Roche brings with it a strong diagnostic skills side. This creates new opportunities for collaboration projects and raises the level of the ecosystem as a top player in the health sector".

Finland is a unique testbed for scalable innovations

According to Tchoumi and Vieira, any innovations that the CleverHealth Network can co-create to personalise the patient journeys in Finland should also be scaled to a global level.  They also point out the uniqueness of Finland as a piloting environment for the collection, integration, and analysis of patient data.

  • “We want to be a partner in the care pathway development to help patients and to solve the pain points and eventually, to take the learnings from Finland to global markets,” Vieira says.

Collaborating in a village-like ecosystem

When discussing the meaning of an ecosystem to Roche, Maturin Tchoumi describes it as follows:

  • “In my native Africa, the concept of village is very important. For the village to work for the benefit of everyone, everyone has to work together. This is what I understand about an ecosystem. The ecosystem is also like a tree giving shelter to everyone.”

Nora Kaarela, Enterprise Ecosystem Lead in Diagnostics and Pharma adds:

  • “For us, the ecosystem platform develops shared solutions to shared problems.”
